Younghusbands pick France to win 2018 FIFA World Cup

Davao City – James and Phil Younghusband who are currently the frontliners for the SMC Davao Aguilas in the Philippine Football League pick France over Croatia to win this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

In yesterday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the SM City Davao, both bared that team France’s cohesiveness and youthful line-up will play as key to victory when battle Croatia in the finals on July 15, Manila time.

“It’s probably France which will win this year’s World Cup,” said James Younghusband adding that their young players will play a big factor.

“I would also go for France because of their aggressiveness in attack,” added Phil.

The Younghusbands along with the rest of the Aguilas are in town to host Ceres Bacolod FC this July 15, 4 p.m. at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex.

However, teammates Tyler Mata and Joshua Grommen picked Croatia due to their thirst for their first World Cup title.
“Croatia’s hunger to win a World Cup title will be a factor,” Mata said.

Croatia march onto the World Cup finals for the first time after beating England, 2-1 in the semifinals played Thursday morning (July12), Manila time. France meanwhile, outplayed Belgium, 1-0 for its finals seat and a chance to raise the trophy for the second time following their triumph on home soil in 1998.
