WANDERLUST| Misters of the Philippines in Mati City

FOR THE first time in the pageant’s history, the Misters of the Philippines flew down south to hold its beach wear competition in Davao Oriental’s summer capital – Dahican Beach.

Last September 1, the 30 good-looking national and international candidates, together with their event organizer and members of the national media, arrived in Mati City and took a five day tour of some of the province’s tourist attractions. This includes a stop-over at the Marsman Estate Plantation where the guys had a first-hand experience of seeing how the province’s top product is being readied for export.

The delegates also made courtesy calls to Mati City mayor Carlo Luis Rabat and Santo Tomas municipal mayor Benigno Andamon, and graced Davao del Norte governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario’s 81st birthday celebration at the RDR Complex in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. At the Governor’s ball, the candidates performed with comedian Vice Ganda to the delight of the 10,000 Dibabawons in the audience.

The candidates also took time to visit and perform at the Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology in Mati City.

A day before the main event, the gentlemen had a field day at the pristine shores of Dahican Beach where they also had a video and photo shoot.

Finally, last September 4, the Misters of the Philippines candidates competed for the Beach Wear Competition at the Blue Bless Beach Resort in Dahican Beach. The top five finalists, all crowd favorites, included Davao del Norte bet Ian Flores Alibo. Alibo was joined by Nicholo Zacarias of Lipa Batangas, Rick Palencia of Tacloban City, Karan Singhdole of Sta. Rosa Laguna, and Reniel Villareal of Pagbilao Quezon,

Villareal, an OFW from Quezon Province, was later awarded the much coveted title during the finals night held last September 13 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.

The Misters of the Philippines 2015 Beach Wear Competition was made possible through the support of the City Government of Mati, Municipal Government of Santo Tomas, Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, Globe Telecom, Unilever Philippines, and Blue Bless Beach Resort.
