“We want to please our guests with good food in a feel good atmosphere. We want to make our café the perfect nook for dining and unwinding in a more relaxed space that is still within the city center but without the noise and the traffic,” said Australia-trained Chef Josamme Barbadillo.

At Café Clarice, Chef Josamme’s young culinary team prepared a menu that both connoisseurs and gourmands of all ages will surely enjoy. Their modern take of Tuna Tartare, Prawns Ceviche, California Maki Salad, Thai Beef Salad, Chicken Teriyaki, Grilled Chicken, Crispy Pork Belly, Marinara Penne Pasta, Shitake and Green Pea Creamy Pasta are just some of their scrumptious fares.

“Our mouthwatering grills and steaks are also definite must-trys,” he said.

Health buffs and vegetarians need not worry as Chef Josamme’s team has also whipped up seafood and vegetable dishes with the freshest ingredients.

“We made sure that Café Clarice has a balanced selection for those who enjoy meats as well as for those who opt for healthier choices,” he added.

Café Clarice is open from 6 AM to 11 PM. Located within the C-Tree Hotel compound along Acacia Street in Juna Subdivision, Matina, the café also serves as the F&B outlet of the new boutique accommodation.

DAVAO CHOCOLATE OFF TO WORLD’S BIGGEST CHOCOLATE SHOWS. For the first time, Davao’s chocolates will share the floor with the world’s best. This was disclosed by Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao Inc executive director and Philippine Cacao Industry Development Council chair Valente Turtur during the opening of the 4th Davao Chocolate Festival last October 13 at SM City Davao Annex.

MALAGOS Chocolate’s cacao beans, recently recognized as one of the best 50 in the world, will be showcased at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris, France.

“Davao, along with other Philippine-made chocolates, will join the Salon du Chocolat on October 30 to November 1 in Paris, France,” said Turtur during the event.

The annual Salon du Chocolat is the world’s most prestigious chocolate trade fair and business expo for the international chocolate industry. This year, over 500 participants from 60 cacao producing countries are expected to participate the said event.

“We are joining the Salon du Chocolat in the hope of penetrating the European market especially that Davao cocoa beans is now known as one of the best in the world,” he added.

Just recently, the cacao beans from the Puentespina Farm in Malagos, Baguio District was recognized as one of the best 50 bean samples (out of 166 from 40 countries) at the 2017 Edition of the Cocoa Excellence Programme in France. The 50 best bean samples will be processed into chocolates and will be showcased at the Salon du Chocolat.

“Davao chocolate producers, such as Malagos Chocolate, Nutrarich, ComVal Tropical, Rosario’s Delicacies, Auro, Captain Du’s, Chocolate de San Isidro and Hiraya, along with Kablon Farm of Tupi, South Cotabato, Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates of Manila (which also source their cacao in Davao) and Ginto Chocolate of Bohol will be on display at the fair’s exhibit area,” Turtur said.

At the Salon du Chocolat, Turtur will deliver a presentation on the Philippine cacao and chocolate industry. The Philippine delegation will also take part in the B2B (business-to-business) session with various international chocolate makers and cocoa importers to be facilitated by the Philippine Embassy and the DTI attache in France.

The Philippine Cacao Industry Development Council and Department of Trade and Industry Export Marketing Bureau play lead organizations for the Philippine delegation at the Salon du Chocolat.

Aside from the chocolate fair in Paris, Philippine chocolates will also be featured in the Northwest Chocolate Festival in Seattle, Washington. The festival is known to be North America’s top show for artisan chocolate.
