Vendetta eyed in businessman’s slay

POLICE are eyeing personal grudge as the possible motive in the murder of a car dealer whose body was found along the road of Barangay Magtuod at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Speaking in yesterday’s AFP-PNP press conference held at Royal Mandaya Hotel, Chief Insp. Milgrace C. Driz, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office, identified the victim as Jeward Gantes Paras, 36, resident of St. Crismacel in Las Pinas and Mineral Village, Garcia Heights in Bacaca.

She said the victim’s valuables were not missing which ruled out robbery as motive.

“Our investigation continues especially since they already gathered some evidence,” she said. “The Soco is also studying the latent fingerprints found in the vehicle.

The spokesperson also said that the police is trying to track down the victim’s companion before he was killed.

Prior to the incident, Paras was about to go on vacation with his family in Samal Island.

According to Driz, the victim also has 10 standing warrants of arrest for robbery in Batangas City trial court.

Investigation showed that Raymond Andrino, resident of the said area, saw an unattended green Pajero near the road where Paras’ body was found.

Paras sustained multiple stab wounds on the different parts of his body and one gunshot wound on his head.

The cadaver of the victim was then brought to Collado Funeral Parlor  in Bangkal .His Mitsubishi pajero vehicle was also taken into custody by the Talomo Police Precinct for the required fingerprint  lifting of Soco.
