Union Bank and partners to hold e-commerce forum

THE Aboitiz-led Union Bank and its partners are bringing Ureka Forum, an event that promotes electronic commerce (e-commerce, on July 23 in the city.

The event, said Anne Tiangco, business unit head of Geiser Maclang Marketing and Communication Inc., will enable the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to have their own website in a bid to convert them into e-commerce.

Geiser Maclang Marketing and Communications Inc. is among the partners for the forum.

“We expect to have a bigger number of participants this time, especially now that it would be conducted in Davao City,” Tiangco said, adding that they targeted to record about 600 registrants.

The registration fee costs P400 for early registrants and P600 for walk-in registrants, which include lunch, snacks and website. The website will be crafted for the participating SMEs in two hours during the one-day event.

The Ureka Forum was earlier held in the cities of Baguio and Ilo-Ilo.

“Now, the Ureka Forum is headed to the ‘Queen Jewel of Mindanao,’ Davao, as Union Bank and its consortium partners get ready to interact with and guide the region’s community of SMEs on how they can best tap the immense growth possibilities via technology and e-commerce,” the organizers said its website.

Tiangco said they are helping the enterprises to have their own website so they could gain credibility and easily pursue e-commerce. She said they would also teach the businesses on how to lay-out, provide content and maintain their websites.

“One of the highlights of the Ureka Forum—the Philippines’ largest e-commerce mass conversion movement—is a workshop aptly called ‘E-Commerce Circuit.’ It is conducted during the second half of the program to provide selected SMEs with a working e-commerce business portal at the end of the day,” the organizers’ website added.
