UM to open doors for DAVRAA 2018

THE UNIVERSITY of Mindanao Matina campus has set to open its doors for the coming 2018 Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet this February 18 to 23.

Michael Aportadera of City Sports Development Division in yesterday’s Davao Press Club’s Kapehan sa SM said, that they will be utilizing the University of Mindanao’s world-class track oval with the blessing of President Guillermo P. Torres Jr. and this is one of the reasons why the City has been qualified to host the said event.

The University Mindanao track oval will be the center of the athletics together with 25 other areas where different sports activities will be played. The DAVRAA 2018 will also be extending the availability of playing venues to the malls in the city as well as other universities.

According to Aportadera, the city is now 85 percent ready for the upcoming DAVRAA. The sports equipment and living quarters for delegates are now ready together with the playing venues, access roads, emergency needs and medical supplies.

The DAVRAA 2018 is Davao’s stepping stone for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa which the city is bidding to host next year. Part of their preparation is the on-going construction of the University of the Philippines Sports facility, prioritizing the aquatics area.
