UM Engineering programs granted PTC accreditation

ENGINEERING programs of the University of Mindanao has been granted accreditation for meeting international standards on engineering education by the Philippine Technological Council.

The PTC is the sole organization recognized by the Commission on Higher Education to accredit engineering programs in the Philippines.

For UM, these programs included the Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs, all under the College of Engineering Education.

Among the general criteria the PCT Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology certified as meeting international standards were

the program educational objectives, student outcomes, students, faculty and support staff, curriculum, facilities and learning environment, leadership and institutional support, extension service, community- oriented programs and industry to academe linkage, as well as continuous quality improvement.

The criteria are intended to promote the continuous quality improvement of an engineering program and provide thresholds of quality assurance for accreditation

The PCT accreditation board conducted their school visit last October 7-9, 2015.

The accreditation for the said programs is valid until next year.
