TRMH-DLSU, UP Fighting Maroons, Montana drew first blood

THE ROYAL Mandaya Hotel/CMO De LaSalle Green Archers along with the UP Fighting Maroons and Montana Pawnshop opened their title campaign on a high note in the at the start of 80th Araw ng Dabaw Basketball Invitational yesterday at the Davao City Recreation Center (Almendras Gym).

TRMH/CMO De LaSalle Green Archers hacked the Senator Manny Pacquiao PACMAN Warriors, 113-76 to open their title defense anchored by the trio of Ben Mbala, Kib Montalbo and Jollo Go.

Senator Manny Pacquaio who played for his team in front of the local crowd also took part of his squads offense as backed by former PBA player Sunday Salvacion and veterans Louie Medalla and Peng Masaglang but failed to sustain momentum against the much younger Green Archers.

Montana Pawnshop Davao and the UP Fighting Maroons also had their share of winning on opening night. Montana came out strong over the National University Bulldogs, 79-74while the Fighting Maroons bested Malacanang Kamao, 91-62.

City Administrator Zulieka Lopez and City Sports Development Division OIC Michael Denton Aportadera welcomed the participating teams in grand rites prior to tip off.

The finals is set on Sunday with cash prizes to be given to the winners.

3 p.m. – NU Bulldogs vs. UP Fighting Maroons

5 p.m. – Montana Pawnshop vs. TRMH/CMO DLSU

7 p.m. – Malacanang Kamao vs. PACMAN Warriors
