Traffic rerouting dry-run in Talomo starts on Wednesday

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XI is set to conduct a 68-hour traffic rerouting test run in Ulas as the Talomo Bridge I will be closed starting 4 a.m. tomorrow until 11:59 p.m. on Friday.

“Talomo Bridge I will be closed to traffic for the DPWH dry-run and inspection of the Talomo Bridge II,” cited the traffic advisory from the city government released on 4 p.m. Monday.

With the closure, the city government announced that there would be a one-way traffic scheme in Ulas area. The re-routing scheme would be implemented by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO).

Outbound vehicles from downtown should use the Talomo-Puan Bypass Road while the inbound vehicles from Ulas should use the Talomo Bridge I, the city government said.

The test run, DPWH XI said in a separate advisory, is for the implementation of the Talomo Bridge II widening project.

In a report of the Philippine Information Agency XI, “the road-widening was originally to be implemented in 2016, however, road-right-of-way problems stalled the project’s detour bridge. The opening of the Diversion Road extension in late 2017 provided the DPWH-XI an alternate road for rerouted traffic.”
