Trade expo opens today

THE 10-day trade fair of Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc. (MTEFI) will open starting today at Abreeza Mall.

MTEFI president Rosevic del Rosario-Cembrano said in a statement that this is the 22nd expo of the foundation, which is staged in time for the city’s Kadayawan Festival. The expo will be conducted until Aug. 20.

“Dubbed as ‘Empowering community through creative product designs,’ MTE 2017 will showcase a modern version of the homegrown products from communities that strengthen its sustainability, productivity and competitiveness,” Cembrano said.

These, she said, are handcrafted collections that promote culture and tradition of indigenous people in Mindanao and local businesses into craft making from different livelihood communities.

Among those products in the expo include arts and craft, décor, furniture, gifts, beauty and wellness products, fresh and processed food and fashion.

The trade expo is organized by MTEFI in cooperation with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc., Abreeza Mall, Aboitiz Power and city government.

Cembrano said they would also highlight the product and brand launching “to promote craftsmanship greatly inspired by the rich culture of the Matigsalug Tribe under the indigenous craft livelihood project.”

The indigenous craft livelihood project is a project of Therma South Inc., DTI XI and Matigsalug Council of Elders Marilog District Davao City Inc.

In March, the MTEFI conducted trade expo in Abreeza during Araw ng Dabaw. The expo was joined by about 80 micro, small and medium enterprises.
