The beat of the festival

THE INDAK- Indak sa Kadalanan dance fest was again celebrated peacefully and produced a local grand champion in Cabantian National Highschool, winning the coveted half million grand prize.

The annual city-staged event had three showdown areas ending at San Pedro Square where local and national officials viewed the contingents on stage.

Winning as first runner up is Sto. Nino National Highschool from South Cotabato with P400, 000, Dawan National Highschool from Mati City at second runner up with P300, 000, and Polomolok National Highschool with P100, 000. Polomolok also earned the best in musicality award for another P50, 000.

Participants from Baganga won P50, 000 as fourth placers, while other teams did not walk away empty handed as there was P10, 000 in consolation prizes.

This year’s competitors come from as far as Maragusan in Agusan del Sur, a nearly six hour travel for the children and their guardians.


Handing out the awards to represent Mayor Rodrigo Duterte were City Administrator Melchor Quitain, and assistant city administrator Jhopee Avancena- Agustin.

The 30th Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival is pegged at P15 million, exactly P3 million more than last year’s budget.

Winners for last year’s Indak-indak sa Kadalanan was Matiao National High School from Mati City, Davao Oriental, with only one contingent from Davao city entering in the winning roster.
