TFD checkpoint intercepts P2.7-M shabu from courier

AUTHORITIES seized P2.7 million worth of shabu from an alleged drug courier intercepted at the Task Force Davao checkpoint in Barangay Sirawan  in Toril at 2 p.m. yesterday.

Supt. Jed G. Clamor, commander of Toril Police precinct, identified the suspect as Ante Quiro Sanchez, 35, and resident of San Antonio in Matina.

According to Lt. Col. Nestor Mondia, commanding officer of the detachment, said that TF personnel were checking the bag of the suspect when they found the bag of shabu weight 300 grams.

Sanchez was onboard a utility van with temporary plate number 0V 008 bound to Davao City from Midsayap town.

“He hid the cellophane of shabu inside a cell phone case then packed it with a tape,” he said.

He  said they are considering the suspect as a big-time drug courier from Cotabato City.

“His main work is to trade slippers and other goods,” he said.

The suspect is now detained in Toril Police Precinct for filing of appropriate charges for violation of RA 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”

On Thursday last week, authorities seized P675,000 worth of shabu from an alleged drug courier intercepted at Task Force Davao checkpoint.

The suspect was identified as Paolo Cabahug Egot, 20, resident of Purok 3 in Isla Verde.

Seized from him were four big sachets of shabu weighing 75 grams worth P675,000 put inside a black sling bag.
