Teenager involved in melee rescued

A 16-year-old minor was rescued by the police after a bladed weapon was seized from his possession at the Calinan Public Market around 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 14.

Davao City Police Office director, Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum, identified him as alias Jo, out-of-school youth and a resident of Barangay Tawan-tawan, Baguio District.
According to the report, personnel of the Calinan Police Precinct conducted operation kap-kap (frisking) in relation to the Commission on Elections gun ban order.
Reportedly, a commotion erupted between two warring groups of minors along MacArthur Highway fronting Jollibee Calinan.
Barangay security volunteer Joel Escala responded and apprehended the teenager.
Recovered from the teen’s possession was a 14-inch bolo with a wooden scabbard, and one plastic bottle containing suspected rugby.
The Calinan Police Precinct immediately informed his family.
He was turned over to the City Social Services and Development Office.
