Technology firm eyes increase in workforce

HEWLETT Packard (HP) Enterprise, a global provider of information technology, technology and enterprise products and solutions, is looking at doubling workforce in the city from 120 by the end of the year, a top official of BPO Association of Davao Inc. bared.

Xavier Eric B. Manalastas, president of the association, said the company is planning to hire those who are experts in systems, applications and products (SAP) as it is ramping up its seat capacity.

The company is also hiring developers and project managers.

“HP wants to double its workforce here and make it even up to having 250 employees this year,” Manalastas said.

The company partners with local outsourcing firm Next BPO Solutions Inc., a customized outsourcing solutions provider that supplies the needs of their client companies. Next BPO Solutions is headed by Mr. Manalastas.

HP’s workforce is in the office of Next BPO Solutions Inc.

“HP is keen on ramping up its seat capacity here so that their operations would be sustained whenever its other centers in the country would experience any disasters. This is for redundancy or disaster recovery,” Manalastas said.

This, he said, is also aimed to utilize its Davao hub if ever HP’s other centers would experience an overflow in the workload.

Next BPO Solutions signed an agreement with HP Enterprise in February last year.

Under the agreement, Manalastas, president and chief executive officer of Next BPO Solutions Inc., said those who would be hired for HP Enterprise will be based in their office. “This is HP’s first time venture outside Manila,” he said. (By Kristianne M. Fusilero)
