Task force to prevent escalating slay case of MILF leader, official 

THE POLICE formed Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) “Garrison” tasked to identify and arrest the killers of a field commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and a kagawad who were gunned down in Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.

The victims were identified as Manubakan Abdul, alias Commander Garrison, head of the 108th MILF Base Command, and Abdulkarim D. Maslamama, a kagawad in Barangay Midkunding, SK Pendatun, Maguindanao.

The SITG Garison is composed of regional director Chief Supt. Lester o. Camba, provincial director of Sultan Kudarat; Sr. Supt. Rex dela Rosa and representative from the International Monitoring Team of Malaysia and Brunei.

“The task group is created to preempt escalation of hostilities in Sultan Kudarat by way of finding solutions to the incident,” said Sr. Insp. Aldrin Martin Gonzales, spokesperson of PRO-12.

On Oct. 29, two unidentified persons riding on a motorcycle waylaid the victims while  on board a motorcycle along the highway in Barangay Romualdez in Quirino town. Abdul was shot on his head while Maslamama succumbed to two bullet wounds in the ear and chest.

The victims died while being taken to a hospital in Tacurong City.

Reports said that Abdul went to the area after he was informed by his son, Midkunding Barangay Chairman Datumama Abdul, that he was fired upon by unidentified gunmen while passing the area aboard his motorcycle earlier in the day.

Police are eyeing personal grudge as the motive in the attacks.
