TABULA RASA| NOURISHING BUDDING ARTISTS UM FINE ARTS STUDENTS ART EXHIBIT ST FELCRIS CENTRALE

ART is a strong visual narrative. A channel where one can objectively materialize a thought or an emotion. More so, it is an experience where individuals are able to identify and connect various existential paradigms of life as it intersects with concepts of aesthetics.

Such artistic experience is manifested last September 19 when the Fine Arts students of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Education opened their art exhibition at Felcris Centrale, Quimpo Boulevard, Brgy. 40-D, Davao City. The exhibition was successfully mounted through the support of Tabula Rasa, a collective of four Davao based artists whose advocacy is to advance and uphold the practice of artistry in the locale and Mindanao. Hence, art showcases similar as this are earnestly pushed as it inspires local young artists and seasoned alike to [re]create their own niche in the industry. The occasion is graced by Mr. Rob Alabado – Department of Tourism Region 11 Director, Ms. Debbie Diamante – UM-OSAA Director, Felcris Centrale Marketing Manager Keith Corrales, the stalwarts of Tabulara Rasa – Daryl Descallar and Bai Manginsay, with the presence of the UM-Fine Arts mentors, Rogelito D. Cayas, Jr., Victor Augustus Dumaguing and Dominador Pamisa, Jr., together with Maree Contaoi-Cayas – NCCA-NCM South Mindanao Representative and Abraham Garcia, Jr. – former NCCA-NCVA South Mindanao Representative. Close friends and relatives of the art students are also around. The exhibiting artists are: Katleen Abejo, Paul Aman, Carlo Aranez, Daryl Caragao, Omar Casan, Reagan Deiparine, Elben Fernandez, Haysonne Garol, Charles Ligan, Kent Medenilla, Jessel Namalata, Jest Oani, Boylin Poral, Dennis Puzon, Jashiel Ramos, Renoida Renovilla, Alvien Reyes, Kurt Rojas, Michael Salcedo, Carl Saldivar, Shaira Secuya, Agelo Valente and Judelyn Villarta.

The exhibition is an exemplar of the active collaborative efforts shared between the art community of the University of Mindanao (Fine Arts Program, College of Architecture and Fine Arts Education), Tabula Rasa and Felcris Centrale, which will eventually serve as a template in upholding and advancing local artistry. Indeed a proactive experience, where artists in kindred spirits stay steadfast.
