Suspect slain in shootout  

AN ALLEGED drug pusher was killed in a shootout with the police during a buy-bust operation conducted at Purok Capricorn, Barangay Lasang at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s father and companion were arrested during the operation.

Chief Insp. Jesus Castañeda, the precinct of commander of Bunawan police, identified the slain suspect as Leonides Dilen Gimongala Jr., 31.

The suspect’s father was identified as Leonides Sr., 58, businessman, and Nathan C. Luna, 26, resident of said place.

According to the report, Leonides Jr. handed over a sachet of shabu to a police undercover. He sensed that he was dealing with a police officer and allegedly pulled his gun and fired at the team which retaliated.

The suspect succumbed to two gunshot wounds on the head.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered one homemade .22 caliber revolver loaded with four live ammunitions and fired cartridge case, six medium sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Also recovered were two fired cartridges from .9mm pistol.

They were able to seize from Leonides Sr. one .22 caliber revolver, and a sachet of shabu from Nathan.

The suspects are now detained in Bunawan Police Precinct for filing of appropriate charge for violation of RA 9165 or the ” Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
