`Summary killings’ probed

LAW ENFORCERS have started looking into the alleged summary killing incident in Toril after nine bodies were recovered days after they were missing.

Chief Inspector Milgrace C. Driz, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office, said that the Toril Police Precinct has started gathering pieces of information on the cases of the nine bodies that were found in several places.

“We are looking into whether there are others who might provide information as well those who also might report abduction incidents,” Driz said, although she added that only two, Leo Peralta and  Jaymark Lesondra, were reported missing but whose bodies were eventually found.

Based on the report, the bodies of Peralta and Lesondra were  found in Gambudes, Arakan Valley in North Cotabato last January 19.

Driz said investigators were looking into personal grudge as the motive of the murder. “Peralta was allegedly involved in a theft case and that he allegedly stabbed a police officer,“ she added.

The police report added that eight others, two of them women, were also reportedly abducted but whose bodies were eventually found in other areas.

The body of John Ryan Aranza, 22, was found in Sitio Balite, Barangay Marilog, Marilog District on January 19; that of Leo Joseph Merli was recovered as it was floating off the river in Barangay Ogpao, Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental last Monday.

Others whose bodies were also found were those of Nilo Agunod, 30, Nelnel Hernandez, 30 and Marites Pareñas Calagsan, 22.
