Student nabbed drug in buy-bust

A COLLEGE student was arrested by elements of the Toril police in a buy-bust operation conducted at Mt. Cordillera Street, Bangkal around 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Ronald Lao, precinct commander, identified him as Ryan Loreynz Jerusalem Fernandez, 23, single and resident of Purok 8, Sta. Cruz, Upper Piedad, Bato, Toril District.

Fernandez was arrested after he handed over one small sachet of shabu to a police officer who posed as buyer inside the suspect’s Mitsubishi L200 with plate number LEK 198.

The amount of illegal drugs confiscated from him was worth P 8,500, police say.  His Mitsubishi vehicle was also confiscated.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man was also arrested in a separate drug-bust operation conducted by the elements of San Pedro Police Precinct in Purok San Antonio, Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao at 8:10 a.m. of Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Ramil Macarampat, the precinct commander, identified the suspect as Arnel D. Banzon, jobless and resident of Purok San Antonio, Agdao. He was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover.

The suspects are now detained in San Pedro and Toril precincts while waiting for the case to be filed against them for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
