Stonefish has Erap as Ninong

PRESIDENTIAL grandson Marko Digong “Stonefish” Carpio was christened yesterday morning in a private ceremony held at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish at the corner of the Don Julian Rodriguez and Carlos P. Garcia Highways, Barangay Ma-a, Talomo District.

The baptism for the third child of Mayor Sara Duterte-Caprio and Atty. Manases “Mans” Caprio was held as the rest of the city was celebrating its 80th Araw ng Dabaw.

Among the godparents were former President and current Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada.

Jefry Tupas, the City Hall information officer who is also one of the godfathers, described the event as “very private,” with no media outfits invited and invitations limited to family and close friends.

These include both Duterte and Carpio families.

Other godfathers were Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, Sebastian Duterte, Waldo Carpio, Cyril Marasigan, Neil Canedo, Jacob Soriano, Charlie Tan, Elijah Manuel Pepito, Joy Lamanosa, Orlando Basilio Jr., Aaron Velasco, and Brian William Uy.

The godmothers were Janette Velasco, Darlyne Rubio, Mayjoy Ramos, Charo Rejuso-Munsayac, and Joyce Domingo-Dapat.

Grandfather, President Rodrigo Duterte, was not absent during the baptismal rite, but he attended the reception.

Stonefish made the news for the peculiar choice of nickname following the preference of Mayor Carpio.

Her two older children are nicknamed Sharky and Stingray.

Stonefish, according to an earlier Instagram post by Mayor Sara, was named after surviving a fetal demise during the same week of the Roxas Night Market blast last September.

Mayor Carpio was around three-month pregnant during the blast and lost two of the babies in her womb over the weekend after the blast.

Stonefish is a surviving triplet.

President Rodrigo Duterte immediately flew to Davao upon hearing of the birth of his latest grandchild.
