Stage set for 8th UMAGA golf

THE STAGE is all set for this weekend’s 8th University of Mindanao Alumni Golf Association (UMAGA) Open golf tournament at the Matina Davao City Golf Club.

No less than UMAGA president Reuben Erickson will head the traditional ceremonial tee off rites which will take place at 10 a.m. on October 14, Saturday. Also invited to join Erickson are Jeremy Suazo of Davies Paints, DBP Board of Director Louie Bonguyan, Ambassador Bhanarim Guinomla, City Councilor Diosdado Mahipus, City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William Ramirez, PSC Commissioner Charles Maxey, UMAGA Chairman Emeritus Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr., LTO-XII Macario Gonzaga, Motortrade vice president Romeo Noro, Gerome Escandor of The Royal Mandaya Hotel and Atty. Manny Nittorreda.

Some 180 golfers are seen to join the two-day golf tournament which allots four brand new motorcycles and LED televisions as hole-in-one prizes at stake on designated par 3 fairways. Players will follow the Modified Stableford, 18-hole individual mode of play with categories to be contested are the Class A (0-9 hdcp), B (10-15 hdcp), C (16-21 hdcp),D (22-27 hdcp) and Seniors (ages 65 years-old and up). Trophies and merchandise will be at stake for the gross and net winners.

Tee-off times will be from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at those dates. The awarding ceremonies will be on October 15, 5:30 p.m. at the Matina Davao City Golf Club clubhouse.

Proceeds of the tournament will benefit a particular charitable institution which will be determined by the officers.
