SPMC employee arrested for shabu

AN EMPLOYEE of Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) was arrested in an anti-drug operation conducted by Sta. Ana Police Precinct on Sunday night right inside the compound of the government hospital.

Police Chief Inspector Hamlet Lerios, Sta. Ana police precinct commander, identified the suspect as Glenn John Tonzo Villasis, 31, an administrative staff III of SMPC, and resident of Dumanlas, Buhangin. Based on his facebook page, Villasis is assigned as food server at SPMC.

Based on the police report, Villasis was arrested around 8 p.m. at the parking lot of SPMC hospital.

Operatives seized .22 gram of shabu with an estimated street value P2,000.

A hospital janitor said to be Villasis’ companion is also under manhunt as he reportedly managed to escape during the operation.

“It’s shameful and embarrassing,” SPMC chief Leopoldo Vega told ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol report.

Vega said Villasis should face the consequence of his act.

He said SPMC is not tolerating the wrongdoings of its employees, especially when it comes to illegal drugs.

Vega said he will impose strict background check on all SPMC officers and workers, including the holding of drug tests.

Meanwhile, two others were arrested in separate operations on Sunday.

Lerios identified the other suspects as Baltazar Olivar Capul, 35, of Block 7, Barangay 22-C; and Wenalyn Labrador Wilson, 21, of Barangay Tibungco.

Capul was arrested at 3 p.m. as he was engaged in shabu session in his house.

According to Lerios, Capul was arrested after he was placed under surveillance as he was reported to the ISUMBONG MO KAY CD text hotline.

Wilson was arrested at 10:35 p.m. in Barangay Tibungco.

During the operation, Wilson was with Gilson Lampios who managed to escape. Seized during the operation was .89 gram of shabu with estimated street value of P8,000.

The three suspects are now temporarily held at the Sta. Ana police while law enforcers are preparing pertinent documents for filing appropriate criminal charges against them.
