Skills training slated: exec

THE REGIONAL office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will conduct free skills and entrepreneurial trainings on May 1-2 in the city.

Gema G. Estrada, trade and industry development specialist of DTI XI, said yesterday in the weekly Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao that those interested should coordinate with the agency as they would only cater to 80 participants per training.

The activities will be conducted at SM City Davao and Gaisano Mall of Davao.

“We encourage especially those who want to put up a business or acquire new skills to join in the skills and entrepreneurial trainings,” Estrada said.

Among the trainings are abaca novelty making, how to sell online, fresh flower arrangement and balloon making. The San Miguel Corp., meanwhile, will tackle business opportunities on bakery while the Food Processing Innovation Center would provide orientation of its services.

There will be also business consultancy services, financing clinic and Presyo Diskwento Caravan. These are part of the “Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan,” a joint undertaking of DTI and Department of Labor and Employment.

The event, DTI cited in a statement, is part of the commitment of the two agencies “to realize Ambisyon 2040: Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Development and Goal 9: Build Resilient Infrastructure, Promote Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization and Foster Innovation.”

The event of the two agencies started on May 1 last year. It was also conducted on June 12, June 27 and October 26-27, which assisted 1,894 micro, small and medium enterprises for skills and entrepreneurial trainings.
