THE BUSINESS Bureau has started preparing the one-stop shop for the renewal of business permits starting January 3 next year as the agency is projecting about 30,000 businesses will avail of the services.

Lawrence Bantiding, head of Business Bureau said the one-stop shop, located in NCCC Mall, is prepared to cater to 2,000 taxpayers a day.

“For the Sangguniang Panlungsod location, we are even placing it at 3,000 a day,” he said.

According to Bantiding, as of October they recorded 33, 834 new businesses that applied this year for permits, compared with the 28,122 for the entire year of 2013.

“We are expecting the business establishment [owners] to pay on time,” said Bantiding, adding the Business Bureau decided to open on a Saturday to avoid the clog come Monday.

Bantiding advised business owners to handle their permits early because, the agency will start imposing the 25% penalty fee after january 20.

The penalty is stipulated in City Ordinance No. 0160- 08 of 2008 which states that “failure to pay the fee prescribed in the Article within the time prescribed shall subject a taxpayer to a surcharge of 25 percent of the original amount of the fee due. Such surcharge shall be paid at the time and in the same manner on the tax due.”

The Business Bureau head said they will also conduct follow up investigations to business establishments around the city to see which businesses have renewed their permits.
