SCENE CITY| Peppers Ibrerica, not just a Resto, but an Art Gallery

ONCE  again we are in the midst of preparations for the celebration of Araw Ng Dabaw which falls in the month of March.

But even this early, we have already started to watch the events that are happening in Davao City. One is the ongoing art exhibit at Museo Dabawenyo featuring homegrown artists.

One art gallery which is also being frequented by art enthusiasts is Peppers Iberica Resto owned by Allen and Chiqui Aportadera, whom we have recently met.

Today, we feature the gallery in the resto where Chiqui considers herself an art dealer, chef and watercolor painter rolled into one. She has recently experimented painting on banana leaf paper, which is sourced from Tadeco as a by-product of the banana industry’s waste products.

This paper has been used for lamp shades, gift wrappers, covers of albums and other gift items. But something else has been added to make the paper absorb water color and become more eco-friendly to painters and artists.

Chiqui Aportadera is proud to say she has sold some paintings at her resto-gallery and even hosted our weekly SpELL Societe Forum which deals on topics like sports, ecotourism, life and leisure and subjects worth talking about for Davao’s development.

Thank you, Benjie and Bong Vicente for the photos.
