Scene City | Newly installed officers of Quota International take on their job

QUOTA International, Inc. is a non-profit international service organization empowering women, providing basic needs of children, the deaf, and hard of hearing in local communities around the world.

Quota International’s world service projects are aligned with the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals. Specifically, Quota clubs are working towards UN MDG Goals 1 and 3: to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, and to promote gender equality and empower women, respectively.
One of the organizations which invited us to attend the induction of officers was Quota International of Davao City and Metro Davao on May 30, 2018 at Seda Abreeza Hotel.
Installation of Officers was led by Ma. Celeste Wong – Regional Director R19 and Nilda Escalante – Regional Auditor, R19.

Turnover ceremonies consisted of a Valedictory Speech by Outgoing QIDC President Fatima Indira Disominba and Acceptance Speeches of Incoming President Ma. Euny Escoton of Quota International of Davao City and Re-elected President of QI Metro Davao, Roy Linao.

Regional Director Ma.Celeste Wong of R9 gave the inspirational message during the event.

QI Davao Officers are: President – Ma. Euny Escoton, Vice President – Fatimah Inderah Disomimba; Secretary – Mandino Ballicud; Asst. Sec. – Chiradee Eroy; Treasurer – Estrel Jagonia; Auditor – Nilda Escalante. Board of Directors/Committee Chairpersons: Hearing Impaired – Dr. Vivian Uy; Fun & Fellowship – PRD Marilyn Navales; HIH – Dr. Veronica Magnaye and Dr. Belinda Nadela; Membership – Amabelle Urbiztondu and Sonia Abubo; Ways & Means – Alice Tumbali; Disadvantaged Women & Children – Dr. Jean Lindo.

QI Metro Davao Officers are: President – Roy Linao; Vice President – Edna Victor; Secretary – Maryfe Sabino; Treasurer – Mercedita Restor, PIO/Auditor – Jesa Madelo. BOD/Committee Chairpersons: Ways & Means – Chrystie Paz Jandayan; Fun & Fellowship – Rowena Cabrizos; Comm. Service – Jewel Angelie Belen; Deaf & Hearing: Jallilah Sultan Usman-Socor; Disadvantaged Women & Children – Renelle Subsuban.
Among the signature projects of the organization are: Neonatal Hearing Screening, which takes place at the Brokenshire Memorial Hospital, helping disadvantaged women, helping the hearing-impaired, reaching out through their Deaf Ministry. They also helped at the evacuation center of Marawi. In Davao City, QI hosted a Christmas Party for schoolchildren and furnished a playroom at the House of Hope located at the SPMC Compound.

The organization was founded in Buffalo, New York in 1919 by Wanda Frey Joiner, as a service club for women similar to that of popular all-male clubs. Today, membership includes both women and men in communities around the world. Current membership exceeds 5,600, representing more than 270 clubs in 14 countries.

Quota International of Davao was chartered in 1999, with past Regional Director Dr. Marilyn Navales as the Charter President, organized by Quotoarian Esther Bendejo, Organizing Club of QI Las Pinas. It partnered with Brokenshire Hospital in 2005 for Neonatal Newborn Screening. It lobbied with the Davao City Government for the landmark Ordinance of the City that “All neonatal or newborn babies should undergo hearing screening”.
