SCENE CITY| Homecoming at PWU

IT WAS reunion time once again for the graduates of the Philippine Women’s University which included JASMS, PWC of Davao, PWC of Iloilo and Bayanihan which happens February each year,

The event was held at the PWU Campus along Taft Avenue in Manila, first time in several years, as the yearly reunion we have attended was held at The Pavilion along Roxas Boulevard.

PWU President Dr.Francisco Benitez said that the Grand Alumni Homecoming is a testament to the hard work of the organizers and a manifestation of our willingness to remain true to the values that our education instilled in us. “Today, I am proud to report to you that we are here to stay and moving forward united in our vision of what our school should be and committed to the ideals of our founding mothers”. This statement refers to the adverse information which circulated that PWU and PWC would be taken over by other institutions which were buying out the university.

On the lighter side, a group of alumni friends motored to Villa Pansol Resort in Laguna for bonding and lunch. To our surprise, the warm waters of the swimming pool no longer attracted the “senior” ladies who did not even give the pool a second look, unlike when we were in high school when everyone would jump into the pool even if we did not know how to swim. Most of the ladies preferred to be pampered with a massage after lunch. The rest spent the afternoon at the kiosk exchanging stories and reminiscing the days spent in school.

President of the PWU Alumni Association Marisol M. Tugade gave a short message saying: “This country is a better place because you generously shared your talent, time and heart in everything that you did and still continue to do. To those who spent their years in the country, mentoring and inspiring generations, we thank you. To those who worked abroad and showed the world just what Filipinos are made of, we welcome you home. Continue inspiring women, children and families everywhere”.
