SCENE CITY| Davao Culinary Cup 2016 winning dishes

WITH pride and excitement, Vikings, the largest buffet restaurant in Davao City, gave us the opportunity to taste the winning dishes which earned three bronze medals and a gold medal during the recent Davao Culinary Cup held at the SMX, Lanang Premier in Davao City.

Creative Breakfast “My Own Version of Eggs Benedict” was done by Ray Angelo Galura. This earned a bronze medal. To our surprise, the dip made from Salted Egg was indeed a discovery! This was also the first time we sampled a dip from “Itlog Maalat” and found it so yummy.

Pasta -Lasagna Mignon followed, made by Edwin Manabat. This was also a bronze medalist.

Local Fish/Seafood was served next, a creation by Vincent Georpe, which won him a bronze medal. This was a revelation, as the dish consisted of Mangosteen Barbecue Crusted Molmol (Parrot Fish) in Sea Urchin Butter Sauce. This is a must-try entrée for fish lovers and diners at Vikings.

Filipino Cuisine ran off with a gold medal. Nothing beats our very own cooking and ingredients which makes us proud. This is a complete set of a sumptuous meal presented by Ramil Solano, Aldrin Sarana and Wilhelm Quirante consisting of Ginataang Sitaw, Kalabasa at Sigarilyas; Chicken Pianggang, Bringhe Negra and Bangsilog Spring Roll.

Winners all, these tempting dishes are fit for the foodies who flock to Vikings for a satisfying meal. It was the middle of the week when invited bloggers and media guests partook of the winning entries,  and we were surprised at the big turnout of customers who came to enjoy the buffet. It was also Eid’l Fitr, a day of celebration for the breaking of fast. We felt like we were winners, too, after sampling the various items on the menu which won the coveted medals at the Davao Culinary Cup 2016!

Thank you, Kenneth Irving Ong for the photos.
