Scene city | Consul Tomoko Dodo ends Davao tour of duty

AS JAPANESE Consul Tomoko Dodo winds up her tour of duty in Davao City, her friends gave her a despedida party. Despedida is the Spanish word for farewell.

Consul Tomoko prefers to be called Sophia by her close friends. These last days of her official term, she has been busy attending the going-away parties hosted by Ikebana International Davao Chapter 133 and Soroptimist International of Davao City.

On Mar. 10, 2018, SI Davao invited Sophia to a despedida to show appreciation for the times she honored the club with her presence on United Nations Day for two consecutive years, bringing Japan closer to the Filipinos and introducing her culture to most of the members who learned much from her messages and promoting friendship among the club members. The dinner-despedida party was held at the residence of Abdul and Linda Aquino along Cabaguio Avenue, Davao City.

The consul was also invited by the officers and members of the Ikebana Club International Chapter 133 in Davao City led by its president, Arlene Puentespina, which was held at the residence of Esther de Jesus at San Pedro Village.

The Royal Mandaya Hotel turns over a check from Hunat Davao Fun Run

Success is measured not by profit alone but by the good deeds shown to the less fortunate. In celebration of The Royal Mandaya hotel’s 19th year anniversary, Hunat Fun Run was held to Rebuild Marawi on Sept. 10, 2017. The activity was held in partnership with GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc. and was attended by Luz Annalee Escudero Catibog, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. executive vice president and chief operating officer and GMA celebrity Bea Binene.

The participants reached a total of around 2,700 registered runners. P200,000 worth of raffle prizes were awarded after the race.

Special awards were given to the oldest runners, a 70-year-old male and a 73-year-old female. Youngest runners were Kalee Banzon, Bastianne Banzon, Andy Ramirez, Dave Camuta, and Rachel Andrea Anino.

The turnover of the P200,000 check was held on March 12, 2018 led by TRMH’s general manager Benjamen Banzon and GMA TV Davao station manager Mariles Puentevella.
