Barbara Kimpo – Villanueva , who studied and grew up in Davao City, became a radio personality in the late fifties and early sixties until she became the First Lady of the late Lupon, Davao Oriental Mayor Ricardo Villanueva. The Kimpo family was known for their active participation in socio-civic and religious organizations in Davao City.The father, Ramon was a quiet person and Edna “Elsie” Tirol Kimpo, Barbara’s mother was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Sons of Barbara, Richard and John, daughters-in-law and grandchildren flew to Davao City from the United States to hold a memorable dinner at the Marco Polo Davao with a nostalgic video presentation which was well appreciated by the guests on December 22, 2017. The song “All the Things You Are” was a very appropriate selection which described Barbara as a mother, a sister and doting grandmother.

Classmates and other schoolmates from the Immaculate Conception College attended the party to greet “Barry”. Among her special guests were Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, Former Fiscal Antonio Tan and wife Myrna, Nilda Tempongco, Lily Puyod, Sylvia Puyod-Rieta, Perla Palma Gil, Tita Iturralde-Tesoro, Celina Andrade-A gton, Dinky and Queenie Munda, Linda Joaquin, Aida Iriarte, Letty Tecson-Averion, Susan Carpio Frey and husband, Elenita Roque-Aquino, Philip Kimpo, Emilia Sitjar and other well-wishers.
