SCENE CITY| 11th Ambassadors’ Tour

IT WAS a homecoming of sorts and a privilege for those who joined the 11th Ambassadors’ Tour held in the Philippines on July 11 to16, 2017, led by the Tourism Promotions Board, Department of Foreign Affairs and RajahTours.

 The ambassadors are Filipinos living in the US.

 The itinerary combined visits to Manila and Davao into one enriching vacation tailor-fit to tell the narrative of a new, safer, more beautiful Philippines. The tour reveled in Davao’s picturesque

landscape, through its nature parks, agricultural farms and resorts, allowing the ambassadors to experience the diversity of its people through a series of courtesy calls with Philippine Government officials, feeling the harmony of its culture through its heritage and cultural museums.  The 200 delegates from the United States, including the ten consul generals and two US

City Mayors were part of the program to become “Filipino Ambassadors” in their own right, carrying a fresh perspective and message of a new and improved Philippines when they returned to the USA. Delegates are now able to showcase the strides made in tourism, economic development and public safety in the Philippines to the larger international community. They were from Hawaii, Washington DC, Chicago and Agana, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles.

 President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered the keynote speech during the reception held at the SMX. Tourism Undersecretary Katherine de Castro delivered the Welcome Remarks, after which they were treated to a cultural presentation, “Philippine Tapestry” featuring Mindanao fabrics designed by Rene Salud.  Photo credits: Boy Lim
