Reported drug gang leader slain

AN ALLEGED gang leader was killed in a shootout with authorities when he resisted arrest at Purok 5, San Isidro, Barangay La Filipina in Tagum City at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Three of his members were also arrested.

Raymund Abanto, alleged leader of Don-Don gang was killed when he allegedly shot it out with the raiding team during his arrest.

Those arrested were identified as Ronald M. Bindoy, 34, resident of La Filipina; Johaiver B. Macute, 21, resident of Barangay Pag-ibig and Leonard Jay M. Rafuela, 30, resident of Purok 2, Sonlon in Asuncion, Davao del Norte.

Joint elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Team-Davao Del Norte along with other law enforcement agencies were about to implement the search warrant no. 125-15 against Abanto.

But he fought back prompting the operatives to open fire. They brought him to the hospital afterwards but died before doctors could attend to him.

Chief Insp. Francis B. Sonza, CIDT-Davao del Norte head, said that Abanto was the leader of Don-Don gang, said to be involved in drug trafficking in Tagum City.

Recovered from the suspect were three big sachets of shabu weighing more or less 13 grams with an estimated value of P117, 000; a .38 revolver, fragmentation grenade and assorted drug paraphernalia.
