PUJ driver shot dead

A PUBLIC utility jeepney (PUJ) driver was shot to death by three unidentified men along Saavedra Street, Barangay. Toril Poblacion, Toril, 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

Chief Insp. Jerome De Guzman, precinct commander of Toril police precinct, identified the victim as Jerry Agat Baylon, 39, PUJ driver and a transient resident of 448 Guardian St., Camarin, Brgy. Daliao, Toril.

According to the report, a concerned citizen informed the station of the shooting.

The police reported that at about 8:50 p.m., Baylon was walking from Central Convenience store going to his PUJ which was parked beside Better Homes Appliance Center, Saavedra St., three unidentified men mauled the victim.

Baylon tried to run but after a few meters one of the three men shot him causing him to fall nearby.

One other unidentified man also shot the victim resulting to his death.

The culprits immediately left the area using one unit Honda XRM color black/white heading south.

According to witnesses, there were four persons who simultaneously left the crime scene that were involved.

Scene of the Crime Operatives personnel arrived led by Chief Insp. Nolan Genova to process the crime scene.

They were able to recover two fired cartridges believed to be of .45 cal pistol and one slug believed to be of .45 cal pistol. These are now in the custody of SOCO for cross matching examination.

The victim sustained two fatal gunshot wounds.

In an interview yesterday, De Guzman said that the victim was a part-time jeepney driver.

“Here in Toril he has three addresses. He keeps on moving,” De Guzman said. “But his identification card show that he is from Mabini in Compostela Valley.”
