PRO XI DIRECTOR: Ironman security plan a success

THE DAVAO Police Regional Office XI reported that the Alveo Ironman 70.3 triathlon international competition held last Sunday was very peaceful.

In a statement, Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, the director of Police Regional Office XI, officially declared their operation to secure the triathlon a success.

“The community had indeed a great role in the conduct of this event, their full cooperation hospitality and discipline in the duration of the activity is observed and by following promptly the rerouting scheme of the traffic authorities,” Gaerlan said.

“The success is bound to all Davaoenos with pride and resilience to adopt major activities like this,” he said.

The regional director is also very grateful for the full support of the local government unit thru our Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and the chief executive of Tagum City, Panabo City and Carmen, Davao del Norte who actively responded to the need of the personnel on the ground.

“The organizers was consistent with their coordination as to the details of the event that made everything smooth-sailing, “ he added.

Gaerlan also attributed it to all the security forces proper coordination and cooperation made its successful and peaceful.

However, the regional director said all the different law enforcement agencies, rescue offices and the military will review the implementation of the security plan for the Ironman to determine if there are areas to be improved.

There were 1,879 participants all in all, 300 of whom were foreigners.

The race finished without a hitch as more than 5,000 police, military and barangay security officers were deployed to secure the competitors.
