Police on the hunt vs father who killed 12-year-old son

POLICE are still conducting manhunt operation to locate the father who accidentally shot dead his 12-year-old son in the old Smokey Mountain along diversion road, Barangay Langub, Talomo District at 8:10 a.m. on Sunday.

Senior Insp. Catherine Dela Rey, the city police spokesperson identified him as Marcelo Tadlip Sr., 42, an employee of City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) and the victim was Marcelo Bernaldo Tadlip Jr., a grade 5 student.

Investigation conducted by the investigator of Talomo Police revealed that the suspect had a heated argument with his other son, Reden, 18. He allegedly took his undetermined gun inside their house and fired it to the ground four times.

But one of the bullets ricocheted and hit his son on the head. He was then rushed to the Davao Adventist Hospital.

The suspect hurriedly left the place bringing along his gun.

In an interview, Dela Rey said that the Talomo police is still conducting follow-up operation to arrest the suspect and file appropriate case of parricide.

“But the family of the suspect said that they won’t file a case against Marcelo,” she said.
