Police officer lands in jail but gets instant freedom

A POLICE officer temporarily landed in jail after a heated altercation with his policewoman wife inside their house in Barangay Mintal, Tugbok District Wednesday morning.

PO2 Alsibar Jama Ismael, 30, assigned at the Calinan Police Precinct, reportedly fired a gun during the argument with his wife, PO3 Joyce Corcino, inside their house on San Francisco Street in Mintal.

Reports from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said the couple fought at 10:45 a.m.

Ismael reportedly fired his government-issued firearm in anger.

This alarmed the neighborhood.

The Tugbok police then responded and arrested Ismael at 11:05 a.m.

Responding police officers confiscated Ismael’s Glock 17 9mm pistol, bearing serial number PNP 18909, loaded with one magazine with 15 live ammunitions. An empty shell was also recovered.

However, Sr. Insp. Paulino Zaulda Jr., the newly designated Tugbok police precinct commander, said they were forced to release Ismael due to lack of witnesses and a complainant.

Without any witness or complainant, Zaulda said they could not file any case against Ismael.

The precinct commander said they released Ismael at around 5 a.m. yesterday.
