PNP: No muzzle-taping of guns this Christmas, New Year

THE DAVAO Police Regional Office yesterday said there will be no muzzle taping that will be conducted on the firearms in the region to show their trust on their personnel.

Chief Insp. Andrea Dela Cerna, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) XI, told reporters in yesterday’s AFP-PNP press conference held at Royal Mandaya hotel, said that since last year during the assumption of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa, they stopped taping the muzzles of firearms.

“That is to show the public also that we have this trust, and how the policemen are responsible. We don’t need to put tapes on their guns because our men already knew when to use it,” Dela Cerna said.

She said any policemen who will be caught on indiscriminate firing will automatically be dismissed from the service.

The PNP higher headquarters already sent a memorandum warning against solicitations during the season. “We are being reminded on that there will be no solicitations,” she further said.
