Playground made of old electric poles mulled

THE CITY government, Davao Light and Power Co. Inc. (DLPC), and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. will sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the construction of a playground facility made of used wooden poles.

Lawmakers yesterday passed the ordinance under suspended rules authorizing Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to enter and sign the MOA on behalf of the city.
There will be two playground facilities to be constructed for the city.
One is the City Child Minding Center at Davao City Recreation Center, Poblacion District, and Balay Dangupan in Lower Cabantian, Buhangin.
Meanwhile, the City Budget Office has certified on May 21 that the city government has provided a whole year appropriation under the Calendar Year 2018 Annual Budget for the salaries and other personnel benefits of the Office of the City Social Services and Development (CSSDO). The employees are directly involved in the implementation and monitoring of the Child Minding Center and Balay Dangupan.
According to the MOA, the Davao Light will fund the project and the city will ensure the proper implementation of the project.
The Aboitiz Foundation, meanwhile, will act as the overall director for the project, release portion of the funds equivalent to the project cost, and pay for the expenses incurred in connection with the project.
The estimated total cost of the project is P273,000.
