Pilpil, 70

ANTONIO “Tony” Manalo Pilpil passed away yesterday at the Davao Doctors Hospital after a lingering illness resulting to multiple organ failure.

Pilpil was the President of the UM Food Service Inc. (UMFSI), which operates all canteens and food outlets of the University of Mindanao. Prior to that, he was a banker connected with the Davao Savings and Loan Association and later on at the Mindanao Savings until 1989. That year, he joined the University of Mindanao as Vice President for Administration and then UMFSI.

He is the only son of Pedro and Rosario Pilpil of Naic, Cavite who migrated to Davao City in the 1920s. He is survived by his sisters: Ophelia Pilpil-Brillantes; Nene Pilpil-Villarica; Rita Pilpil-Calizo; Pet Pilpil-Tongson and Audrey Pilpil-Ybanez.

His body lies in state at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes along Camus St. Davao City. Interment will be announced later.
