Permit renewal to start Friday

THE RENEWAL of business permits will start on Friday, based on the website of the Business Bureau.

The website bared the one-stop shop will be set up at Kadayawan Hall in NCCC Mall of Davao and Sangguniang Panlungsod for easy processing of the permits. The renewal period would end by January 20.

The Business Bureau explained that there are five steps to process business and mayor’s permits.

Some of the requirements include notarized list of all employees, previous mayor’s permit, copy of authority to transact with the Business Bureau, photocopy of valid identification card of all signatories and certified copy of proof of tax exemption.

The applicant should also present before the City Treasurer’s Office the application for renewal form, previous receipts of payment, photocopy of financial statement, income tax return, quarterly return, breakdown of gross sales, and gross sales certificate.

The Business Bureau expected to renew about 30,000 enterprises.

During the I-Speak Forum at City Hall last month, lawyer Lawrence Bantiding, head of Business Bureau, said the one stop shop in NCCC Mall can cater about 2,000 taxpayers a day while the ones in Sangguniang Panlungsod can accommodate 3,000.

“We are expecting the business establishment (owners) to pay on time,” Bantiding said.

As of October, the Business Bureau already registered 33,834 businesses. Failure to renew business permit during the renewal period will be charged with penalty fee.

Based on City Ordinance No. 0160- 08 of 2008, “failure to pay the fee prescribed in the article within the time prescribed shall subject a taxpayer to a surcharge of 25 percent of the original amount of the fee due. Such surcharge shall be paid at the time and in the same manner on the tax due.”
