PAL INTERCLUB Palos Verdes to play with only 3 players in last 2 days

Luisita widens lead over Canlubang by 14

CLARK FIELD, Pampanga — The Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club from Davao City will now be playing with only three players in the final two days starting today in the on-going Philippine Airlines (PAL) Seniors Interclub Golf tournament at the Mimosa Golf and Country Club.

Businessman Hermie Martin will no longer be seeing action to attend to an emergency business matter. Only Faisal Samanodi, Archie  Moralison and Kang Hobong will see action today while for tomorrow only Samanodi, Moralison and rookie Martin Sara.

Hobong started seeing action yesterday together with team captain Joe Marfori, Ting Castillo and Abe Dizon.

“So it will now really be a three to count for us in the last two days,” said Castillo, who fired 42 points in Day 1 as Palos tallied 116 in the Aviator division.

Marfori also carded 42 while Sara contributed with 32. Dizon’s 29 did not count.

The format of the longest running national golf event is four to play, three to count with eight players for each team in the 4-day day event.

As of press time, Palos and Apo were still playing together with two other clubs at the Acasia course.

Apo, which debuted with 110 points was being represented yesterday by Joe Tesado, Soc Cadayona, Lito Dublan and Jun Serado.

Davao City Golf Club was being played by its other four players Benhur Villarosa, Jose Daigdigan, Ederlino Aceron and Isagani Gascal.

DCGC opened up its campaign with 111 from Second District City Councilor Jimmy Dureza (41), Boy Napoleon (36) and Anthony Sasin (34).

Leonilo Dalut’s 31 did not count.

Palos finished 13th in Day 1 in the Aviator while Davao and Apo placed 17th and 19th, respectively.

Villamor leads them with 245 followed by Zamboanga (215) and Camp Evangelista (210).

Meanwhile, Lanang Country Club also from Davao is presently in 9th place after Day 2 in the Founder’s division with a total of 214 points.

Lanang first scored 114 from skipper Bobby Dakudao (32), Bernie de Guzman (44) and Jessie Cruz (38). Ricky Pineda’s 30 did not count.

Yesteday, De Guzman added 45 while Dakudao contributed 32 and Cruz 27. Pineda’s  25 again did not count.

The other Lanang players are Danilo Gotera, Dennis Salvador, Robert Te Siong and Pepito Veloso.
