P5-M fire assistance

City to release P5 million to Sasa victims
THE CITY Government will release P5 million in cash assistance to the victim of the fire that hit a densely-populated residential and commercial area in Barangay Sasa, Buhangin on Friday, the City Information Office revealed.

The City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) is currently validating the status of the residents who were affected by the fire.

“We hope to release (the cash assistance) sooner after proper validations are made by the social workers in the area,” CSSDO Chief Maria Luisa Bermudo said.

The fire damaged at least 350 houses and establishments in Purok 1, Km. 11, Sasa.

Around 700 families were affected by the six-hour fire.

Bermudo said the CSSDO has already distributed dignity kits, blankets, mats, and other materials to the residents who were affected by the fire.

The city also prepared hot meals through the mobile kitchens of the CSSDO.

According to the city government, the mobile kitchen is currently on the site.

Right after the fire, Mayor Sara Duterte said she had ordered the concerned local government agencies to make sure that the services are available to the fire victims.
