P1-M for Phil eagles

THE CITY council has approved on final reading the release of P1 million as the city’s continued support to the critically endangered Philippine eagles.

The fund is the city’s aid for the food stock of the eagles in captivity, as well as support for the studies being conducted by the non-government organization.

The motion was based on a request of PECPFI executive director Dennis Salvador, who made the financial request during the term of then-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

In a budget note, then Budget Officer Ermelinda Furog said that the city government had already earmarked the funding from the 2016 annual budget.

The City Legal Office added that the assistance was without legal infirmity.
