Optical Media Board opens office in city

THE OPTICAL Media Board (OMB) will launch today its satellite office in Negosyo Center, Magsaysay Park.

The launching of the office would be graced by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, OMB chair and chief executive officer Anselmo Adriano and Trade and Industry Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya.

This was established as a result of the agreement made by the board and Department of Trade and Industry, which was inked on Jan. 18.

In the agreement, the OMB has to assign personnel in Negosyo Center “to conduct information drive and seminars on registration and licensing, process covering, optical/magnetic media and manufacturing equipment, as well as their respective parts and accessories.”

The board defined optical  media as medium or device where information, including photos and video were stored.

The OMB should also report to DTI those who engaged in the illegal importation, exportation, acquisition, sale or distribution of optical and magnetic media.

The DTI, meanwhile, provided a space for the board in Negosyo Center.

“This shall be implemented to facilitate an entrepreneur/ consumer-friendly registration and licensing process and to avoid a situation where those situated in the provinces would have to personally go to Metro Manila in order to acquire a license,” the agreement between DTI and OMB cited.
