Online-pimping mother nabbed

A 27-year-old mother who pimped her son online was arrested by the International Law Enforcement Unit of the Philippine National Police inside their house in the Talomo area on Wednesday.

Police did not give the name and address of the mother who will be charged for exploiting her six-year-old son online.

Sr. Insp. Victor Maquindang, the deputy commander of Talomo police precinct said, the boy was already turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“She was selling her child online,” Maquindang told reporters in an interview yesterday. He said the mother was taking videos and photos of her son that she was selling online.

The mother was reportedly getting P2,000 to P4,000 for every online transaction from suspected foreign pedophiles.

The modus operandi of the mother came to the attention of the police last March after receiving reports from their foreign counterparts.
After getting positive results, the PNP’s International Law Enforcement Unit based in the national headquarters then coordinated with the Davao City Police Office, particularly the Women and Child’s Protection desk of Talomo Police Precinct.

During the operation, police seized photos of the boy, naked, in various poses. They also recovered several money claim receipts from remittance centers, proving that she was receiving funds from someone in foreign countries.

Police are tracing the sender of the funds.

The suspect is now held at the Talomo Police Precinct pending the filing of the appropriate cases, which includes child pornography and child abuse.
