Omar Maute’s wife arrested

THE INDONESIAN wife of the slain Maute co-founder was arrested by the authorities inside their house in Makers Village, Tubod, Iligan City around 9:30 a.m, yesterday.

Supt. Lemuel Gonda, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) X, identified the suspect as Minhati Madrais alias Baby, the wife of Omar Khayam Maute.

Omar, the co-founder of the ISIS-linked terrorist group, was killed on Oct. 16 during the Battle of Marawi.

According to the report, joint operations from the police regional command, the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO), and Joint Task Force Ranao conducted the operation.

Madrais was taken into police custody, along with her six children. An expired Indonesian passport was also seized from her.

Police also recovered four blasting caps, two detonating cords and one-time fuse from the house where Midrais was arrested.

Maute, along with terrorist leader Isnilon Hapilon, was killed in the final assault of state troops in the main battle area of Marawi City.

The police are now coordination with the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) 10 for the custody and care of the children.
