Official: Same firearm used in DavNor shooting incidents

The Davao Del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO) has intensified its operations on a gun-for-hire group involved in a series of shooting incidents in its area of jurisdiction.

Speaking at AFP-PNP press briefing at Royal Mandaya Hotel yesterday, Sr. Supt. Alan Manibog, DNPPO director said: “We can’t deny the fact that there are shooting incidents (recently). Our intelligence community has been working on it in order to identify this group.”

Manibog said that based on the pieces of evidence uncovered in relation to the shootings, the ballistic result that the same gun has been used in these crimes.

“There are cases like that (the same gun is used in the crime),” he added.

Although there has no concrete proof that the same firearm was used in several incidents, Chief Insp. Mligrace Driz, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office XI, said that among those reported incident was the shooting of Kim Mark Lamintao, 26, a security guard, who was shot in the gasoline station in Purok Sampaguita, Visayan village, Tagum city.

On the same day, unidentified killers also shot dead Wendrel Lazaga at Crossing Timog Avenue, Barangay Visayan Village, Tagum City.
