No more extension for Comelec listing

THE COMISSION on Elections (Comelec) offices in the city accommodated registrants until 5 p.m. yesterday, being the last day of voters’ registration for next year’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

The Comelec is no longer extending the voters’ registration for the 2018 Barangay elections.

“Pursuant to COMELEC Resolution No. 10214, the filing of applications for registration and other voter-related registration for the May 14, 2018 Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will be on November 6, 2017 to November 30, 2017, during office hours, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Saturdays including holidays,” the Comelec memorandum read.

The Comelec also noted that no applications for transfer of registration records shall be filed and be processed.

However, the resumption of the system of continuing registration will be conducted nationwide, except in the province of Lanao del Sur due to the five-month Battle of Marawi.

As of Nov. 28, the Comelec received a total of 496,816 applications for registration for a period of three weeks from Nov. 6 to 25, 2017 during the ongoing registration of voters nationwide.

Weekly monitoring data on voter registration gathered by the Election and Barangay Affairs Department (EBAD) shows the following numbers: 126,444 total applications received for the week of Nov. 6-11; 152,380 for Nov. 13-18; and 217,992 for Nov. 20-25.

Based on the data the National Capital Region (NCR) processed the most number of applicants, with 81,047 total number of applications both from the SK registrants who are 15-17 years old, and from regular registrants who are 18 years old and above.
