Nine police officers get reward, commendation for robber’s slay

THE CITY government handed  a certificate of commendation and monetary incentive to a team from San Pedro Police Precinct for killing a robber at corner Iñigo and Jacinto Street last Nov. 2. The awardees were Sr. Insp. Ronald Lao; PO2 Rethan Pete Duroon; PO3 Rizalito Clapiz; SPO2 Danny Dakigan; SPO2 Richard Dionisio; PO3 Richard Baltoz; PO2 Sim Alcontin; PO2 Welquint Enciso; and SPO2 Renante Medina.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte commended the team for their “commitment to community policing and law enforcement bringing to halt unlawful practices by an akyat bahay group engaged in robbery which threatened the safety of residents within the areas of F. Iñigo, E. Jacinto Streets and adjoining streets.”

Each of them received P5,000 from the city government.

Based on police records, Tricia A. Alforque of Malvar Street, Brgy. 7, was boarding a tricycle near Fairlanes along Torres Street when the robber posing as a passenger declared hold-up and grabbed her wallet containing P5,992.25, assorted IDs and cell phone before he kicked her out of the vehicle.

A mobile patrol responded to the incident and chased down the perpetrator who shot at them. The operatives recovered the stolen items, .38 caliber revolver with four live ammunitions and one fired cartridge, and five plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.

Meanwhile, five police precincts in the city that topped in drugs accomplishment also received monetary compensation from Duterte.

The Sta. Ana Police Precinct received P75,000, followed by Bunawan Police Precinct with P65,000, Marilog Police Precinct with P50,000, and San Pedro Police Precinct with P40,000, while Sasa Police Precinct received P10,000.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-XI regional director Emerson Rosales earlier said that they conducted 439 operations from January to August this year which resulted to 2.59 kilos of shabu, with an estimated street value of P23.32 million.
