NINETEEN establishments in the city have set up service outlets to sell P39 per kilo of rice to support the national government’s program “Tulong sa Bayan” pending the replenishment of rice from the National Food Authority (NFA).Data from NFA-Davao bared that among the establishments are ML Marketing, Four Brothers Enterprises, Pengco Enterprises, Metavco Enterprises, Davao Bay Commercial, Davao Tristar Commercial, Wensor Trading, Winbless Enterprises and TSK Enterprises.

The list also includes LLanera Grains Complex, Davao Mabuhay Enterprises, Masias Ahloy’s Bigasan ng Bayan, Chengco, RLC Commercial, SSJ Commercial, Minpro Agri Traders, New Golden Harvest Corp., Winsun Enterprises and J. Agro Trade.

The service outlets are in Bangoy St., Calinan, Agdao, Toril, Monteverde, Sobrecarey, and Sta. Ana Ave.

“With a little encouragement, the stakeholders have agreed to help in NFA’s “Tulong sa Bayan” Caravan where they will sell rice at P39.00/kilogram only. This will lessen the burden of those in the marginalized sector and might be of assistance to the stabilization of rice price in the market,” NFA-Davao City said in a statement.

The “Tulong sa Bayan” is a joint program of the Office of the President, the Confederation of Grains Retailers Association of the Philippines, Inc., the Philippine Confederation of Grains Associations and NFA. This prompted following the depletion of NFA rice that priced P27 a kilo.

The grains agency earlier projected that rice imports would arrive next month. The agency already observed its depleting inventory in February, which resulted to the long queues in markets in Bucana, Tibungco and Toril.
